Second Continental Congress Reenactment
Iroquois, the Erie Day School, Northwestern, and Wattsburg celebrated the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration with a mock congressional debate held at the Warner Theater rehearsal hall. Students performed a live, student-led reenactment of the 2nd Continental Congress, debating whether we should break away from Britain or not and casting the tense vote for independence. Students acted freely, and reacting to each other's arguments and engaging in heated debates that our founding fathers deliberated on in July of 1776. The Iroquois Foundation along with the Iroquois Class of 1969 funded the participation of a professional reenactor who portrayed John Hancock, leader of the Congress, to help facilitate/organize the student's arguments and participate where he sees fit.
